Return of Batteries in Accordance with the Battery Act (BattG)
According to BattG, we are obliged to inform our customers about the regulations and obligations for the disposal and return of used batteries and rechargeable batteries.
1. End consumers are obliged to return used batteries and rechargeable batteries according to §11 BattG.
2. Contaminated batteries and rechargeable batteries are marked with the crossed-out garbage bin under which stands the chemical symbol of the heavy metal contained
(Cd for cadmium, Hg for mercury and Pb for lead).
3. Batteries and rechargeable batteries must not be disposed of with household waste, but can be handed in free of charge at our office or at any designated collection and return points. Our obligation to take back is limited to waste batteries of the type that we have as new batteries in our assortment or have led to, as well as the amount of end-users usually get rid of.
Information in Accordance with the Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act (ElektroG)
According to the law on placing on the market, return of and the environmentally friendly disposal of electrical and electronic equipment (ElektroG) we are obligated to inform private households:
1. Manufacturers of electrical and electronic equipment must mark their products, which are placed on the market after 23 November 2005, with a symbol (crossed-out garbage bin) and take it back free of charge. Such old appliances are not to be disposed of with household waste, but to separate, collect and dispose of via suitable collection a nd return systems.
2. Private households have to dispose of old electrical appliances (WEEE), which they no longer want to use, in an environmentally friendly manner. In this case, they have to dispose of the WEEE as a separate collection of unsorted municipal waste and to separate waste batteries and rechargeable batteries from the WEEE; if they are not enclosed by the WEEE and if WEEE not according to §14 Abs. 5 S. 2 and 3 ElektroG
are separated to them for to prepare the reuse.
3. Distributors with a sales, storage and dispatch area for electrical and electronic equipment of at least 400 m² are obliged to:
1. In the case of the delivery of a new electrical or electronic equipment to an end user, an old equipment of the end user of the same type of equipment, which fulfills essentially the same functions as the new equipment, at the place of supply or in the immediate vicinity, shall be returned free of charge, and
2. Old appliances, which are not larger than 25 cm in any external dimension, take back a maximum of 5 old appliances per appliance type either in the retail store or in the immediate vicinity without charge, whereby the return is not tied to the purchase of an electrical or electronic device.
4. Electrical and electronic equipment covered by the ElektroG is in particular the equipment listed in Appendix 1 to the ElektroG.
